The Square Top

The Square Top is a versatile wardrobe essential designed for every season. Its clean lines and silhouette make it a refined piece you can style in countless ways - wear it on its own during summer, as a sleek underlayer in winter, or pair it with a shirt for an effortlessly elevated look.

1 strand Cotton Baby Lino from Gepard Garn (amount: 150g (150g) 200g (200g) 250g 
+ 1 strand Gepard Garn Cashmere Lace (amount: 50g (50g) 75g (75g) 100g)

The pattern is knitted to your own measurements, but in some places sizes are given as a reference. The sizes are listed based on your usual top size in the following order:
XS-S (M) L (XL) XXL-XXXL

Gauge on needle size 2.5mm:

The Square Top is knitted in stockinette stitch on needle size 2.5.
Gauge is 30 stitches  x 44 rows= 10 x 10 cm

Measurements for choosing the right size: 
The Square Top is knitted after your own measurements, however the pattern asks you to choose a size when casting on. The size you choose depends on which fit you want, and how much coverage you prefer. For the fit we prefer to the top, the upper hem of the Front Piece should equal the distance between the middle of you two breasts (the nipples). 

This way the top hem will be slightly narrow, but increase with a perfect fit down towards the outer side of your bust and create a deep armhole. However if you prefer more coverage, you are welcome to choose a bigger size when casting on and go from there.

S = 18 cm

S = 20

Needles and Accessories

• 1 circular needle size 2.5mm, 40 cm
• Double-pointed needles size 2.5mm
• Circular needle size 2mm, 40 cm
• 1 stitch marker (or an extra safety pin)
• 1 long stitch holder / extra cable from your circular needle
• 1 blunt needle for weaving in yarn ends

Construction of The Square Top

The Square Top is worked top-down.

You begin by knitting an upper folded hem, after which the two straps are worked. The front piece is then formed by joining the folded hem and straps, while increasing stitches along each side to create a slanted shape toward the armholes at the front. The back piece is knitted in the same way - just slightly wider - and then front and back are joined to form the body, which is worked in the round from there. The top is finished with a lower folded hem.

The top is reversible, so the narrower section can be worn as either the front or the back depending on your preference.
