The Forest Hood Jr. is a combined hood and poncho, making it practical, warm, and very comfortable. The hood-poncho is knitted from the top of the head down. The open hood is first worked back and forth with an i-cord edge around the face opening. Once the hood is joined, the neck section is knitted in the round with decreases to shape the hood at the neck. Immediately after, increases are made, forming gentle lines that flow down toward the shoulders. Finally, the poncho is knitted in the round to provide cozy coverage for the child.
The Forest Hood Jr. is ideal for a child in a stroller, for children who transition between warm and cold while playing outside, and for older kids who want the option to pull the hood on and off without losing it.
