The Luna Dress is a simple and elegant one-shoulder dress — a natural evolution of our Luna Bralette.

The pattern is based entirely on your personal measurements, ensuring a custom fit from top to hem. The dress can be knitted in a short, midi, or long version—so you can create exactly the silhouette you want.

The Luna Dress is knitted in a characteristic, soft cashmere yarn, making it perfect as a luxurious layer in the colder months or as a standalone statement piece in warmer weather.

Yarn

1 strand of Fine Kid Mohair, Walløe (210 m/ 25 g)
+ 1 strand of Paillettes, Lang Yarns (112m/25g)

1 strand of Mohair Luxe, Lang Yarns (175 g/ 25g)
+ 1 strand of Paillettes, Lang Yarns (112m/25g)

You will be knitting with 2 strands of yarn - one mohair and one paillettes.

Since the dress is knitted according to your own measurements, the amount of yarn needed will vary depending on your bust size, your waist circumference, your bust size, and the desired length of the dress. Our recommendation is always to buy one extra skein rather than one too few. In this way, you ensure the same dye lot for all the yarn. Most yarn retailers accept unopened skeins for return.

Gauge

Gauge on 3 mm needles in stockinette stitch:

10 x 10 cm = 27 sts x 42 rows

Estimated Yarn Amount

An estimated yarn amount for a knee-length dress is as follows:

S (70–75 cm waist and 92–96 cm hips) =
125 g mohair + 200 g paillettes

M (76–84 cm waist and 100–104 cm hips) =
150 g mohair + 225 g paillettes

L (85–95 cm waist and 108–112 cm hips) =
200 g mohair + 275 g paillettes

XL (96–107 cm waist and 117–122 cm hips) =
250 g mohair + 325 g paillettes

XXL (108–120 cm waist and 127–132 cm hips) =
300 g mohair + 775 g paillettes

Needles and accessories

• Circular needle  3 mm, 40cm or 60cm

Construction of the Dress

The Luna Dress is, at its core, a dress with a single shoulder strap.
The construction is simple, with no seaming other than folded edges at the hem and armhole. In addition, the dress is knitted according to your own measurements, making it easy to adjust to your body for the most comfortable fit.

The Luna Dress is worked from the top down - first the front strap is shaped, and from there the triangular front piece that covers the bust. When the front piece is wide enough to reach from armpit – over the bust – to armpit, these stitches are set aside. Next, stitches are picked up from the strap, and the triangular back piece is knitted. Under the arms, the front and back pieces are joined to form the body section, which is knitted in the round in stockinette stitch. Increases and decreases are worked down the body section to shape the waist and hips. The length of the dress can be adjusted as desired.
