The Ondina Wrap Cardigan takes the beloved design of our The Ondina Scarf and transforms it into a playful, shape-shifting layering piece that keeps you guessing. Add a contrasting edge for extra flair or keep it understated, the choice is entirely yours.

You can wrap the front closure across your chest for classic elegance, or flip it to the back for an unexpected wow-moment that catches everyone's attention.

Construction of The Ondina Wrap Cardigan

The Ondina Wrap is worked from the top down. First, stitches are cast on along the shoulder edge, from where the back is worked downward in garter stitch. From here, stitches are picked up for the left front, which is worked downward while shaping the waves across the chest. The left front is then placed on hold while the right front is worked.

At the underarm, the left front, back, and right front are joined, and the cardigan is worked back and forth across all sections. The cardigan increases in stitch count following the wavy progression until it is wide enough to wrap around the waist. At this point, an opening is formed under the arm through which the ties can pass.

Afterwards, decreases are worked in the wavy pattern on both fronts, and finally the lower edge is bound off in a wavy shape, finished with an I-cord edge. The sleeves are worked flat or in the round. Lastly, I-cord ties are sewn on, and an optional contrast edging may be crocheted along the wavy edges.
